The psychological distress happens due to distorted thinking patterns and thoughts that act as a stimulus for specific emotions leading to a pattern of behaviour.

As a healing art, the main task of Cognitive Therapy is interrelate the events caused in childhood and formative years leading to the distorted thought process that acts as a stimulus for the emotions and behaviour pattern to bring a change in the individuals behaviour.
