Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or illness. Naturopathic principles suggest the treatment of the whole person, providing sound and useful advice to a client on aspects of their health. Functional medicine is a dynamic process that can apply to chronic disease cases helping to assess, prevent and advise on the client’s health.
The factors that influence each client’s health are a unique and complex web of interconnections, rather than a straightforward cause and effect. My role as a practitioner is to help the client find a dynamic balance between all aspects of their health (body, mind, spirit) using a patient-centred approach instead of a disease-centred approach.
My journey to becoming a Nutritional Therapist started a few years ago when I began
researching the effects of nutrition on health and well-being. I made the decision to apply this knowledge to my own diet and lifestyle and was amazed by how even small changes made a positive impact on the way I felt. Having benefited from this experience I had the desire to learn more and use my knowledge to help others.
CNM has provided me with the tools to further educate myself and consequently my clients about the power of food and nutrition in supporting the quality of everyday life.
